Building a Better Community

Committed to Serving District 6 Residents

As your candidate for County Councilmember, I am dedicated to ensuring our community thrives through transparency and accountability.

Stronger schools, healthier kids & well-appreciated teachers

Our students deserve an education that prepares them for life. I will champion rigorous academics, daily health and fitness habits, and schools that serve healthier food options. Because what we feed our kids fuels how they learn and grow.

We will properly value our teachers and restore teaching as a prestigious, respected profession. Teachers should be regarded on the same level as other highly respected professionals, such as doctors, engineers, and lawyers, reflecting the responsibility we entrust them with every day. I will fight for competitive compensation, supportive working conditions, and real career development so we can attract and retain excellent educators.

Teach entrepreneurship, not just employment

Too many young people graduate without the tools to start something of their own. I will push for hands-on business curricula, mentorships with local entrepreneurs, and real-world projects that teach budgeting, sales, leadership, and accountability.

Our education system must also adapt to a world changing faster than ever before. Advances in artificial intelligence and automation will reshape the economy, and some jobs that exist today will no longer exist by the time students graduate. Preparing students for this reality is not optional – it’s part of our responsibility to them.

Back small businesses with real resources

Small businesses are the backbone of our community. I will streamline and redirect grants and available funds to neighborhood small businesses, cut unnecessary red tape, and focus support on the local employers who create jobs and strengthen our communities.

Affordable homes for first-time buyers and families

I will advance housing solutions that prioritize local families over speculative and institutional investment. That includes identifying areas dedicated to affordable rentals and purchases and requiring developer cooperation to deliver housing that working families can afford.

Faster, fairer permits & inspections

We will cut review times for building, grading, and related permits by setting clear service-level targets, adding same-day or over-the-counter approvals for simple, low-risk work, and expanding online status tracking so applicants can see exactly where their permit sits.

We will coordinate across agencies to remove bottlenecks, and offer expedited lanes for safety repairs, accessibility upgrades, and small-business survival needs – without lowering safety or environmental standards.

Equity & opportunity for all

America aspires to equality, yet real inequities persist. In District 6, I will fight to expand opportunity so every resident has a fair chance to prosper – truly regardless of race, background, gender, disability, or family circumstance. No parent should be forced to choose between providing for their family and being present for their children.

That means investing in practical pathways to success – job training, workforce partnerships, small-business support, mentorship, and improved access to capital. It also means strengthening the community infrastructure that makes opportunity real, including affordable, high-quality childcare and family-friendly workplaces.

For anyone working to build new skills or re-enter the workforce, we will focus on clear pathways – training that leads to good paying jobs, support that reduces barriers, and a county government that is a true partner in your success.

Uplifting underserved kids

I will place special focus on children growing up with fewer resources so we can break the cycle of misfortune. We will expand access to tutoring, healthy school meals, after-school programs, mentorship, and first-job pipelines. There is no reason our kids cannot succeed and become community role models – our job is to remove barriers and provide the tools to get them there.

A government that remembers who it serves

Throughout my business career, I have worked with federal, state, and local agencies. Too often, those interactions left me feeling that residents and small businesses were serving government, instead of government serving the people.

I have deep respect for our dedicated professionals and the vital work they do, but the culture, especially at the County level, must change. While I have been fortunate to work with a few dedicated leaders who truly prioritize responsiveness and customer service, their approach should be the standard, not the exception. As your councilmember, I will set clear service standards, remove bottlenecks, and recognize problem-solvers, so it is unmistakable that government serves the public.

Protect what makes District 6 special

I support managed, responsible growth that ensures infrastructure and public services keep pace with development. Growth must respect existing neighborhoods, protect zoning integrity, and reflect the voices of the communities most affected.

At the same time, we must continue, and strengthen, efforts to protect clean waterways, preserve open space, maintain quality parks, and safeguard the character that defines District 6. Environmental stewardship and strong schools are not optional priorities; they are central to our identity and to the future we are building for our families.

Responsible development means planning carefully, listening to residents, and making sure progress enhances, rather than erodes, the quality of life that makes District 6 such a special place to live.

Community safety & immigration affairs

Annapolis and Anne Arundel County are diverse communities, and that diversity is part of what makes our area, and our country, strong. People from different backgrounds, cultures, and life stories contribute to our economy, our neighborhoods, and our shared civic life. Respect for one another and for the rule of law must coexist.

While immigration policy is primarily set at the federal level and is outside the direct authority of a County Councilmember, its impact is felt locally, including here in District 6. No one should feel unsafe walking their own streets or afraid that a routine day could end without returning home to their family.

I believe laws must be enforced. At the same time, enforcement should be carried out in a professional, humane, and respectful manner that upholds human dignity and community trust. Public safety is strengthened, not weakened, when people feel secure enough to cooperate with local institutions, send their children to school, go to work, and participate in community life without fear or humiliation.

Immigration is a complex issue. However, I believe there is room for practical, lawful solutions that balance enforcement with fairness. For long-standing, law-abiding residents without legal status, there should be clearly defined, lawful pathways – under appropriate conditions – that allow individuals to come forward, comply with the law, and work toward legal status without undermining public safety or the integrity of our immigration system.

A note on scope and responsibility

As a County Councilmember, I fully understand the limits and responsibilities of the office. My role is to legislate at the county level, shape budgets, oversee agencies, and advocate for the interests of District 6. At the same time, leadership does not stop at jurisdictional lines. When an issue affects the lives, safety, or well-being of District 6 residents, even if it extends beyond direct county authority, I believe it is my responsibility to engage, collaborate with other levels of government, and advocate for practical solutions.

I think big, but I execute locally.
